About the Artist

Kimberly Wyant is a self taught artist. She has had a desire to create art of all types since she can remember. She started as soon as she was old enough to hold a crayon and try drawing on her sheets. Needless to say, this didn't go over very welll with her parents! Kimberly was born and raised in Southern California where her family still resides. In her 20's, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film and television industry.  After several years working in special effects costuming and as a scenic artist painting sets, she was offered a job here in Florida as a concrete sculptor and scenic artist on the construction of Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.  Since that time, she and her future husband sold everything, bought a camper, a trike and a chopper and hit the road  to travel the southeastern United States and the Bahamas working on many different types of things from Mardi Gras floats in New Orleans to The Atlantis Hotel Casino in the Bahamas. She has also created paint techniques for Disneys Fort Wilderness Hotel lobby and provided window art for a tatoo shop in Tennessee.

After a few years spent between  here and time on the road, she decided to work for her husband in underground utility construction so she took a break from doing art full time to just doing occasional murals for friends and daycare centers.  Shortly after that, they started a family and eventually they bought a house in Lakeland , Florida and set up home base. This inspired a trend for her to take found furniture and refurbish and redesign those items into functional pieces of art. When she first began to drag these items home her husband would ask " What is all this crap?!" , until she had most of their house furnished with found objects. A couple of years later, her husband was offered work in Texas, so they packed up and moved for a year and a half. During that time, Kimberly's husband encouraged her to open a small store in a local artist community and suggested she call it K.R.A.P., Kimberly's Recycled Art Projects!

When the family moved back to their home in Florida after the Texas job was complete, Kimberly heard about the Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market and opened up a booth there. This has led her into the wonderful art
communtiy that until that time was unbeknownst to her.  She is currently a vendor every Saturday there and has a free "Creation Station" where kids of all ages can come and paint and draw and create art. She also does custom work on furniture as well as faux finishes and trump loi.

Over the years, Kimberly has done many forms of art but her true passion lies in finding new life for old things.  Her motto in art and in life is that there is beauty in everything if you look hard enough.
